Fusion jazz group "Winterplay" [Fluxus Music] |
Korean pop-jazz group Winterplay will hold their first mini-concert in Hong Kong, informed the group's agency Fluxus Music on Wednesday.
Fluxus explained through its press release that Winterplay will stage their music today in front of some 600 guests composed of music experts, VIP, and media personnel, to commemorate the release of "Sunshines,¡± the group's first regular album in Hong Kong which is expected to hit stores within this month. The same album was already released in Japan last month.
The concert will be a preview to Winterplay¡¯s performance at the Hong Kong Summer Jazz Festival set for May.
The jazz quartet, composed of Lee Joo-han (leader and trumpet), Moon Hye-won (vocalist), Choi Woo-joon (guitarist) and So Eun-kyu (contrabassist), made their debut with their first album "CHOCO SNOW BALL" in 2008 with a follow-up single featuring the hit song "Happy Bubble."
Last year, the group released their first overseas album ¡°Songs of Colored Love¡± across Asia, held a showcase for it in England, as well as releasing a single album titled ¡°Don¡¯t Know Why¡± in Japan.
Most recently, Winterplay was complimented by Tyler Brule, the editor-in-chief of the United Kingdom¡¯s trend magazine ¡°Monocle,¡± who, in his contribution to Financial Times in January of this year, pointed out that Korea should consider Winterplay, together with Girls¡¯ Generation and W& Whale as three cultural items for export.
