TV series "Royal Family" [MBC]

MBC’s “Royal Family” continued its lead on the primetime TV chart for Wednesdays and Thursdays while KBS' “The Thorn Birds” and SBS’ “49 Days” came close in the race for second place, according to data by two media research companies on Friday.

“Royal Family” held onto first place on the primetime slot for the second week in-a-row, scoring an average viewership rating of 12 percent on Total National Multimedia Statistics’ (TNmS) chart and 15.3 percent on AGB Nielsen Media Research’s (AGB) poll, both numbers revealing about a one percent increase from last week.

This week, In-sook (played by Yum Jung-ah) readied for the battle with her sister-in-law Yoon-seo (Jeon Mi-sun) in managing a department store. However on the day of her official inauguration as the president of JK Club, she gets shaken by an unexpected appearance of a mysterious young man from her hidden past.

Meanwhile, according to TNmS' survey, fantasy romance “49 Days” yielded an average viewership rating of 9.5 percent to take second place while melodrama “The Thorn Birds” fetched in 8.6 percent to come in last.

However, on AGB’s poll it was “The Thorn Birds” that came second with an average viewership rating of 9.7 percent and “49 Days” trailing behind with a mark of 9.6 percent.

In the latest episodes of “49 Days,” Ji-hyun (Nam Kyu-ri) the wandering soul, finds out that her upcoming marriage was just part of her fiancee and her best friend's scheme to gain her fortune so she attempts to prevent them from having their way, visiting her house in Song Yi-kyung’s (Lee Yo-won) body.

In “The Thorn Birds,” Seo Jeong-eun (Han Hye-jin) makes the tearful decision to give up on her dream as an actress and instead take care of Yoo-kyung's mother and her baby. Yoo-kyung in contrast, chooses to leaves the country to study overseas.
