Korean idols JYJ [C-Jes Entertainment] |
Korean national broadcaster KBS has said their message on restricting male group JYJ's appearances on the channel was a mistake and that they will reflect the trio's music into data for their future music programs.
KBS announced their corrected stance yesterday, a day after controversy had fired up over the broadcaster's response on its online Q&A room that they were not allowing JYJ on their entertainment programs, including their weekly music show "Music Bank," because JYJ was pursuing a singing career on a dual contract.
They were referring to JYJ members Jaejoong, Yuchun and Junsu pursuing their singing careers through C-JeS Entertainment despite a lawsuit with their former agency SM Entertainment, since last summer, from which they have demanded their contract to be nullified.
However, a court had ruled SM should not interfere with the three's individual activities and furthermore in February of this year, deemed JYJ's activities legitimate by ordering SM to compensate for trying to hinder the group's singing activities.
KBS soon deleted their message and on Thursday, stated that the content of it was their stance on JYJ before the court's February ruling that one of their staff members accidentally posted.
They then added, "After JYJ's activities were deemed legitimate, there were no albums nor songs of theirs which 'Music Bank' could take into account. From now on, should JYJ release albums, it'll be up to the producers to judge on whether they will appear on the show or not."
The first and last record JYJ released in their trio was their first full-length global album "The Beginning" which went on sale in mid-October of last year.
C-JeS chief Back Chang-ju, who had announced a swift rebuttal to KBS' previous message, issued a statement shortly after KBS' explanation, thanking them for saying they will have JYJ appear on their show when they release an album.
He said JYJ "still has many obstacles to overcome" as been proven by how the court in February recognized that SM Entertainment had interfered with JYJ's activities and ordered them to compensate for their actions.
Jaejoong, Yuchun and Junsu debuted in 2004 as part of TVXQ, now consisted of remaining members U-Know Yunho and Max Changmin, but despite seeing phenomenal success in the Asia region, they ceased to remain a single group after filing the suit against SM in July of last year.
The three then formed trio JYJ in October of last year through which they have been pursuing their singing careers.
