Boy band 2PM¡¯s debut single in Japan has been placed fourth on the prestigious Oricon weekly chart.

According to Oricon Style News, 2PM¡¯s debut single ¡°Take Off¡± released on May 18, sold 59,000 copies during the first week to reach the No. 4 spot on weekly Oricon singles chart as of May 30.

With this record, 2PM has become the K-pop group to sell the most copies of their debut single in the first week of its release -- Girls¡¯ Generation¡¯s ¡°GENIE¡± held the previous record by selling 45,000 copies of their first single upon its release in the country in September of last year.

¡°Take Off¡± consists of a total of four tracks including ¡°Take Off,¡± ¡°Heartbeat,¡± (Japanese version), ¡°Take Off¡± (without main vocals) and ¡°Heartbeat¡± (Japanese version without main vocals) and is produced in three editions; limited edition A composed of the CD and DVD (Music video off ¡±Take Off¡±), version B the CD and a 32-page pictorial and version C just the CD.

Composed of members Nichkhun, Wooyoung, Junho, Chansung, Junsu and Taecyeon, 2PM has been one of the most popular boy bands in Korea since their debut in 2008, holding numerous hits under their belt including ¡°10 out of 10,¡± ¡°Again & Again,¡± ¡°Only You¡± and ¡°Heartbeat.¡±

They expanded their singing career into Japan in November last year with a DVD followed by a large showcase a month after at Tokyo's Ryokoku Kokugikan which attracted over 25,000 local fans.

Last week, the boys wrapped up their first concert tour in Japan titled ¡°2PM 1st JAPAN TOUR 2011 ¡®Take off¡¯¡± in which they performed in several cities including Sapporo on May 6, Fukuoka on May 8, Osaka on May 9 and Nagoya on May 10 and Tokyo on May 13.
