SBS' documentary "The Last Tundra" has won an award at this year's Shanghai Television Festival (STVF), according to the official website of the fest on Friday.
The official website of STVF revealed that "The Last Tundra," helmed by Korean director Jang Kyung-soo, won the award for best nature documentary against several other international programs at the 17th annual Shanghai Television Festival held in Shanghai from June 6 to 10.
The critically acclaimed four-part SBS documentary narrated by top Korean actress Ko Hyun-jung, which aired in Korea from November 14 till December 5 last year, captures the life of different clans living in the Siberian tundra.
The show was also released as a movie in mid-February and became the first documentary-turned-film to be sold overseas. It portrayed the lives of Grecia and Goria who tried to adjust to the life outside of the Tundra when they are forced to attend the nation's boarding school.
The Shanghai TV Festival is a prominent awards ceremony in the Asian TV industry, acknowledging and screening the best entries in drama, movies, documentaries and animation.
