Top Korean agency YG Entertainment plans to unveil a new girl group around the first half of next year.
A PR official from YG Entertainment told 10Asia over the phone on Wednesday that a girl group will make their debut under the agency sometime in the first half of next year, confirming the statement YG's chief Yang Hyun-suk made in a couple interviews with local media outlets.
She went on to say, "Nothing has been finalized as of yet however and everything is still in the planning stages regarding the girl group."
YG Entertainment was founded in 1996 by Yang Hyun-suk, a former member of popular Korean group Seo Tai-ji & Boys.
The company currently manages some of the biggest names in the Korean music industry including Big Bang, 2NE1 and Se7en. They also manage the careers of Korean actors Kang Hye-jung, Ku Hye-sun and Yoo In-na.
YG Entertainment recently signed with major Japanese record label AVEX to create YGEX, which was established to manage the activities of YG artists in Japan.
