Korean film "Poetry" [Uni-Korea] |
Famed Korean director Lee Chang-dong's award-winning movie "Poetry" will open in select cities in the United Kingdom starting this week, according to the distributor's Arrow Films on Thursday.
"Poetry," starring veteran actress Yoon Jeong-hee, will open at the Ritzy Cinema, Rio Cinema, Renior Cinema Clapham Picture House in London starting tomorrow and will also be screened in eight different cities.
The film is about an elderly woman who learns how to write her own poems while fighting Alzheimer's and was released in Korea in mid-May.
The pic has won a slew of international awards including best screenplay at Cannes Film Festival last year and has sold its distributions rights to several countries including Hong Kong, Syria, Japan, Portugal, Spain, Russia, Taiwan and Brazil.
Yoon was also honored with the Chevalier dans l'ordre des Arts et Lettres by the French government for her contributions to the film industry as her strong performance in "Poetry."
