A number of Korean movies have been sold overseas during this year's Cannes contents fair and BIFF's Asian Film Market, according to a press release from film distributor's Finecut.
On Friday, Finecut announced that Korean animation "Leafie, A Hen Into the Wild" was sold to Portugal, Russia and Indonesia at the Palais de Festivals - Cannes held in France from October 3 to 6.
"Leafie," based on the popular children's novel of the same name, tells the adventure of a hen who leaves her chicken farm to realize her dream of hatching her own egg.
It was pre-sold to Turkey and China in June and became the first local cartoon to attract over two million viewers in Korean box office history.
Meanwhile, famed Korean director Kim Ki-duk's feature "Poongsan," starring Yoon Kye-sang and Kim Gyu-ri, was sold to Japan's movie distributor Asia Films during the Asian Film Market at the 16th Busan International Film Festival held earlier this month.
Korean movies "Night Fishing," "Hello Ghost" and "Hansel and Gretel" were also sold to Japan while "Blind," "The Cat" and "Unstoppable Family" were purchased by Taiwan's Eagle International.
