Korean songstress IU has signed with EMI Music Japan to kick off her singing career in the country, according to a press release from her agency Loen Entertainment.
On Wednesday, Loen announced that EMI Music Japan will manage IU's upcoming activities in the country starting with the release of her licensed album and DVD on December 14.
The album will be composed of her previous hit songs such as "Good Day," "Nagging" and new tracks from her upcoming second studio release set to go on sale in Korea later this month, while the DVD will feature some of her past performances.
"IU will hold her first showcase in Tokyo in January next year and she will release her official Japanese debut single the following month," an official with Loen said in the statement.
IU, whose real name is Lee Ji-eun, made her debut with her first mini-album "Lost and Found" in September 2008. She has produced a number of hit songs including "Boo," "Marshmallow" and "Nagging" with 2AM member Seulong.
She is currently busy putting the final touches on her second full-length album in Korea.
