Korean director Bora Kim, a student of Columbia University, has won an award from the Directors Guild of America (DGA) for her short film "The Recorder Exam."
The official website of the DGA showed on Wednesday that Kim's short film "The Recorder Exam" claimed the prize for best woman student filmmaker under the east region for DGA's 17th annual Student Filmmakers Awards.
Award-winning films will be screened and the ceremony will take place at the Directors Guild of America theaters in New York on December 1.
"The Recorder Exam" tells the story of nine-year old Eun-hee who anxiously prepares for her recorder exam as she struggles to find a place in her own family.
"Recorder" made its premiere at the Columbia University Film Festival in April and was screened at the 2011 Mise-en-Scene Short Film Festival in Korea the following month.
