KBS medical series "Brain" grabbed the audience's attention for its second consecutive win atop the Monday and Tuesday primetime lineup during the first week of January.

The Shin Ha-kyun and Choi Jung-won starrer fared better this week with viewership ratings of 17.5 percent on January 2 and saw its percentage point increase by 1.2 percent the following evening, according to TNmS' (Total National Multimedia Statistics) chart.

However, "Brain" recorded slightly lower ratings on AGB Nielsen's poll with a score of 16.5 percent on Monday night and 17.9 percent on Tuesday.

The series, which began its run in mid-November, had picked up three honors at the 2011 KBS Drama Awards for best couple, netizen's choice and the grand prize to Shin for his role as doctor Lee Kang-hoon.

MBC's "Light and Shadow" firmly maintained its position in second place with ratings swaying back and forth in the nine to 14 percentile range.

SBS' new series "Salaryman, Cho Han Ji," starring Lee Bum-soo, Jung Ryeo-won and Jung Gyu-woon, began its run on the right foot with marks in the eight to ten percentile range.
