It was a competition of two primetime TV series that encompass different genres and the result was quite evident; MBC's "Light and Shadow" has stretched its winning streak again.

"Light and Shadow," which is the second most-watched drama from the broadcaster this year after "The Moon Embracing the Sun," held strong to the winner's spot with an average rating of 19.5 percent on Monday and Tuesday, TNmS (Total National Multimedia Statistics) showed.

Though it kicked off on a smooth start by attracting 10.4 percent of the viewers for the first two episodes, SBS' "THE CHASER" was no match for the multiple-week winner and sat at No. 2 this week.

KBS, meanwhile, aired the last two episodes of "Love Rain" and the show quitely closed the curtains with its ratings staying low between five and six percent.

"Love Rain," starring Jang Keun-suk and Girls' Generation's Yoona, has been posting lower-than-expected numbers throughout its whole 20 episodes since beginning its air on March 26.

Starting next week, a 'big' fantasy romance comedy is coming to rescue KBS from struggling at the bottom of the Monday and Tuesday ratings chart.

"Big," which goes around the story of a teacher falling in love with a man in his 30s that somehow obtains the soul of a 18-year-old teenager, is set to start its run on June 4.

The show's impressive ensemble includes "The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince" star Gong Yoo, Lee Min-jung of "Cyrano Agency," miss A's Bae Suzy, Baek Sung-hyun and Shin Won-ho.

In the meantime, data compiled by the AGB Nielson Media Research showed that the chart-topper "Light and Shadow" and "THE CHASER" each posted 20.4 and 9.6 percent rating in average during the two days, followed by "Love Rain" recording 5.6 percent.
