PSY is a step closer to topping the Billboard Hot 100 as he continues to rule more music charts abroad.

PSY scored No. 1 with his single “Gangnam Style” on UK-based Official Charts Company's singles chart, according to its official website Sunday.

This is first time for any Asian artist to receive the honor on the coveted chart, and with the news, the musician has further increased expectation for the tune to top the Billboard this week.

Critics say the latest achievement is somewhat unexpected since the result came without any promotional work in the UK. The website added that they will soon welcome the global artist's visit to the island.

Adding to the single’s already remarkable move, “Gangnam Style” also soared to the top of ARIA Singles Chart, Australia's representative music sales chart on October 1 in local time.

The tune’s legendary video is now recording 342 million views on YouTube as of Tuesday evening, after hitting 300 million with shortest time period of all time on September 29.
