Digi.me is at the forefront of the MyData wave worldwide which is revolutionising healthcare through patient centricity, consumer personalisation in Fintech and Martech, and other sectors where personal data is the key to value creation. Initially an aeronautical engineer, Julian founded STASYS Ltd in 1987, specialising in interoperability and the military internet, and grew it to a staff of 230, with subsidiaries in the USA, Germany, Malaysia and Australia prior to sale to Lockheed Martin in 2005. Julian retired from Lockheed in 2007 as VP International Strategy. Julian is an angel investor in more than 20 start-up businesses, including firms such as Astrobotic, Free Now and DataSift. Julian is a Chartered Engineer, Fellow of the IMechE and Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Engineers, and is also a Virgin Galactic Future Astronaut.

    Maryam Farboodi Professor of Finance at the MIT Sloan School of Management & Co-author, ‘Valuing Financial Data’

    • Maryam Farboodi is the Jon D. Gruber Career Development Professor and an Assistant Professor of Finance at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Her research focuses on the economics of big data. She studies how big data technologies have changed trading strategies and financial outcomes, as well the consequences of the emergence of big data for technological growth in the real economy. She also works on developing methodologies to estimate the value of data. Furthermore, Farboodi studies intermediation and network formation among financial institutions, and the spillovers to the real economy. She is also interested in how information frictions shape the local and global economic cycles. Most recently, her research also focuses on understanding the covid-19 pandemic and associated policies. Previously, Farboodi was an Assistant Professor at the Bendheim Center for Finance at Princeton University. She holds a BSc in computer engineering from Sharif University of Technology, an MSc in computer science from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a joint PhD in financial economics from the Booth School of Business and the Department of Economics at the University of Chicago.

    • Alan Mitchell, is a Co-Founder and Non-Executive Chairman of Mydex Community Interest Company (CIC), has been pioneering the opportunity of personal information empowerment for two decades.
      He was a strategic advisor to the UK Government on its mydata programme and has consulted about personal data policy and issues with the UK and Scottish Governments and a wide range of organisations in the financial services, media, social media, technology, manufacturing and retail industries. Also, Alan was Strategy Director for Ctrl-Shift, a market analyst and consulting business that helps organisations understand the implications and embrace the opportunities arising from the changing personal data landscape.
      His 2001 book Right Side Up predicted the rise of ‘consumer agent’ business models and in 2004 he helped form the Buyer Centric Commerce Forum a networking group for entrepreneurs working in this space. Previously, Alan worked as a journalist for The Financial Times, The Times and many specialist publications.
