19th lineup featuring songstress BoA and special guest Girls' Generation [Official website of 2011 Summer Sonic]

Songstress BoA and girl group Girls' Generation have been invited to Japan's Summer Sonic Festival in August, making them the first female Korean artists to take part in the major music event.

The official website of the music fest revealed that BoA and Girls' Generation will take part in the 2011 Summer Sonic Festival to be held in Osaka of Japan on August 13 and 14.

BoA will perform on the first day of the festival, taking to the Mountain Stage which will also feature shows from world renowned international artists including Avril Lavigne, Rip Slyme, Jessie J, Tinie Empah, Perfume, The Pretty Reckless and The Downtown Fiction.

Fellow SM Entertainment labelmates Girls' Generation were announced as the special guest for the music festival the following day.

Both Korean idols stars will be in the presence of a number of internationally known artists including The Strokes, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Zebrahead, X Japan, The Mars Volta, James Blunt, Ziggy Marley and other Korean performers such as Galaxy Express and Idiotape.

Past performances by Korean artists include rocker Seotaiji, band Nell, boy band Big Bang and rock group FTIsland.

BoA is one of the most successful K-pop artists in Korea since her debut in 2000 with first album "ID: Peace B" featuring her single "ID: Peace B" and "Sara." She expanded her singing career into Japan the following year and has since placed a number of her singles on the prestigious Oricon chart.

She recently finished shooting her Hollywood debut film "COBU 3D" which also stars "Dancing with the Stars" champion Derek Hough.

Girls' Generation is one of the most popular female idols group in Korea and throughout Asia since making their debut in 2007. The girls successfully expanded their singing career into Japan in August of last year and will be releasing a new DVD series which will show of their travels in Phuket.
