In the 18th century Joseon Dynasty, there is a gifted artist called Shin Yun-Bok. He was the only court painter that challenged the strict rules and concept of the North School that was dominant in the royal painting institute. After quitting the royal institute, he started to create his own unique style. I am mostly interested in the subject of his paintings, which satirizes the hidden life styles of the noblemen at that time through his excellent imagination.

In the works of Ha Jong-woo, he extents this imagination, and attempts to transpose and communicate with Shin Yun-Bok¡¯s paintings. By this he could tell his own story and desire. In the dialog, instinct and desire become the concepts stride across the separate of space.
