Actress Han Ye-seul, who left Korea after her abrupt departure from KBS TV series "Spy Myung-Wol," returned to the country on Wednesday afternoon.
Wearing the same clothes she was seen in when spotted arriving at Los Angeles two days ago, Han stopped in front of her gate and addressed the large crowd of reporters gathered at Incheon International Airport starting with an "I'm sorry."
She then said, "I'm trying to start all over again. But I wanted the public to know. I believed that there shouldn't be more victims like me while I'm very sorry for the trouble I've caused for the other actors, crew and the public."
"I believed that no improvements would ever be made if I didn't do this. I'd like to believe that I did the right thing. I made the decision I did whilst in great fear and stress," Han explained.
Han finished her remarks by saying, "I do think there'll be people who will understand why I did what I've done. I knew I'd receive a lot of criticism but I also think this'll give people in this industry a chance to reflect on themselves."
It is uncertain whether KBS will allow Han to return to the show as well after failing to turn up on the show's set starting Sunday without prior notice nor an explanation which led to Monday's episode of the Monday and Tuesday primetime drama to be replaced with a special.
Disappointed, the broadcaster said they are considering replacing the show's female lead but also left open the possibility of Han returning to the show should she make it back to set in time for them to air a regular episode of the show next week.
The two parties have also yet to narrow their differences on the conflict that is said to have sparked the incident -- the actress said she was forced to put up with poor working conditions while KBS said they had tried their best to accomodate Han's requests regarding the filming schedule and her scenes despite her frequent late arrivals to set.
Nonetheless, Han's agency sidusHQ and her mother have convinced the actress of returning to Korea and resuming filming of the show also starring singer-actor Eric and eyes will now be turned to whether she will be allowed to rejoin the series.
Questions remain as to whether the public too will forgive the actress -- she had been one of Korea's most sought out and loved actresses after starring in MBC's popular sitcom "Nonstop 4¡± in 2003 but now has tarnished that reputation amongst some of her fans while others have sympathized with her.
