A battle of K-pop stars is to open at a music festival opening this weekend in Changwon, South Korea.

A-list idol stars including TVXQ!, FTIsland, Secret, MBLAQ, A-Pink and B.A.P will grace the stage at the K-POP WORLD FESTIVAL 2012, set to open at the Changwon Plaza in South Kyungsang Province’s Changwon city on Sunday.

Hosted by Korea’s major broadcaster KBS, the annual event also features a special subprogram that choose the best performer and vocalist from overseas who love K-pop music.

This year's edition brought a total of 50,000 participants from 32 countries to its regional preliminaries that began in July,

15 teams were voted the finalists online in August and are set to share the stage with the aforementioned musicians in front of the judging panels and some 15,000 audience members.

The outdoor festival will be led by its emcees Secret’s Han Sun-hwa and songstress Ailee.
