YIM, Jong-Yong
YIM, Jong-Yong Chairman of the Financial Services Commission
Yim Jong-yong was appointed as Chairman of the Financial Services Commission on March 13, 2015. Prior to assuming the chairmanship, Mr. Yim served as Chairman & CEO of NongHyup Financial Group.

Mr. Yim has been with the government since 1981, holding numerous key positions in the economic and financial fields. He started his career in the Ministry of Finance and Economy (the former body of the Ministry of Strategy and Finance). He made contributions in establishing and improving financial system as director of banking, securities, and financial policy divisions.

From 2006 to 2007 Chairman Yim served as Korean Minister at the Embassy of Republic of Korea in the U.K. He fulfilled his duties to serve Korean people and businesses in the UK as a representative of the Korean government.

Since returning to Korea, Mr. Yim has filled key posts such as Deputy Director General of the Financial Policy Bureau, Director General of the Economic Policy Bureau and Planning & Coordination Bureau at the Ministry of Strategy and Finance.
Mr. Yim served as Presidential Economic & Financial Secretary from 2009 to 2010 and worked besides the President to stabilize Korea's economy in the aftermath of the global financial crisis. Then, he was appointed as First Vice Minister of the Ministry of Strategy and Finance in 2010 and took in charge of international financial matters. He served as Minister for Government Policy Coordination at Prime Minister's Office in 2011 before moving to become Chairman & CEO of NongHyup Financial Group.

Chairman Yim earned a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Yonsei University and a Master's degree in Economics from University of Oregon.
Matthew Lee
Matthew Lee Vice President of North Asia, PAYPAL
Matthew Lee is Vice President for PayPal North Asia. Based in Shanghai, he manages PayPal¡¯s business in the North Asia sub-region, comprising China, Hong Kong, Korea and Taiwan, and reports to PayPal¡¯s Senior Vice President of APAC, Rohan Mahadevan.

With more than 30 years of financial services industry experience, Matthew in his current capacity leads the business strategy and expansion in North Asia that is poised for rapid growth.

Matthew has extensive knowledge of partnering with the government, regulatory bodies and banking institutions in China. Prior to joining PayPal, he was the Head of Enterprise Growth (Asia) at American Express focusing on expanding its mobile payments business; and at First Data as Chief Executive Officer of Greater China where he successfully broadened the reach of the company beyond traditional banking customers.

He had also served as Senior Vice President of Asia Card Services for Bank of America in China and before that, Matthew spent 17 years at Visa International of which he was the Country Manager for Visa in China for many years. In the earlier part of his career, he worked for Citibank and Wells Fargo.

Matthew holds an MBA in marketing and finance from the University of Chicago.
Shikko Nijland

Dr. Shikko Nijland MSc is owner and Managing Partner of Innopay since 2012. Innopay is an independent consultancy firm specialized in payments, digital identity and e-businesss. Shikko is an expert in multi-sided platform innovation, fintech and growth strategy. Prior to Innopay Shikko was Managing Director at Accenture and headed the growth strategy practice in the Netherlands.

He has project experience in more than 20 countries including BRIC, Japan and all main ASEAN countries.

In 2013 and 2014 he was the chairman of the thinktank Transactions 2020. This expert group consisting of 25 experts from all major Dutch financial institutions was responsible for developing scenarios on how the Dutch consumers shop and pay in 2020. Shikko is also lead mentor at Startup Bootcamp Amsterdam and member of the advisory board of three startups who made it the finals: Buzzoek, Tagtag city and Yes.tap.

He is also founding member of HollandFintech (together with KPMG, IBM and VanDoorne lawyers); this is an organisation that aims to improve the innovation climate for fintech companies in The Netherlands.

He is a regular key note speaker on major events like: Global e-Commerce Summit Barcelona, ETA Las Vegas, EPCA summit, Global Payment Summit Singapore, NFC mobile money etc.

A serial entrepreneur and payment professional, Shankar has founded a number of companies including Cazh (an Internet payment company) and Tagit (an enterprise mobility company). He has a track record in innovation, technology, operations and product development and has worked on developing mobile banking initiatives for the leading banks. Shankar holds 4 patents, including the patent filed for link generation technology (digital emulation)

A movie buff, Shankar spends his time outside of work watching movies and writing movie scripts. He also loves to travel and is into photography.

KIM, Philip Hong-Sun Standard Chartered Bank Korea, Executive Vice President / CISO
Philip H Kim is an entrepreneur and corporate executive in the information technology business. He has been appointed as the CISO (Chief Information Security Officer) at the Standard Chartered Bank Korea, on July 2014. He is in charge of the comprehensive coverage of information security policy and practices for the bank. He has more than 25 years of IT experiences, specifically with 20 years with the management role in the information security business.
Prior to his current role, Philip has been the CEO of AhnLab, the largest information security software and service company in Korea, where he expanded the business portfolio and increased its revenue by 240% in 6 years. Before AhnLab, he was the founder and CEO of SecureSoft for 9 years, and worked at Samsung Electronics. Also, as the information security expert, he was the adjunct professor at Korea University and Hanyang University.
As a fluent communicator in technology-related trends, he was invited to present keynote speeches at renowned industry events and technical seminars. He has also been involved in various cyber security activities, specifically playing a leading role during nationwide cyberattacks. With such contributions, he received numerous awards, including the Presidential Awards. Also, he served as a member of advisory roles including the National Economic Advisory Council.
Philip Kim holds a Ph.D. in computer engineering from Purdue University and an M.S. and B.S. in electronics from Seoul National University. He was awarded as the honorable alumni of both schools. He authored the book, ¡®Who Owns the Future?¡¯ published in 2013 and ¡®Securing the Future¡¯ to be released on April 2015.

Yoomi Kim has majored in computer science and statistics and twenty eight years of experience both in manufacturing and financial industry covering pharmaceutical, consumer and corporate/retail banking and life insurance business all in major global companies. Extensive experience in people, financial, compliance, operations management, especially diverse IT areas including major new business establishment/compliance/ transformation projects including next generation policy administration system supporting business growth in terms of diversity and scale. Worked as Chief Technology Officer of ThinkFree, which is a global Web 3.0 Office corporation. Developed ThinkFree online office and won outstanding success over competitive product, Google Docs.
Tim YUDIN
Tim YUDIN Managing Director of Payment Council UK
Tim Yudin is the Director of Collaboration and Change at the Payments Council. He is responsible for leading the Payment Council's launch of industry collaborative products and services - such as the Current Account Switch Service and the mobile payments service, Paym. His other responsibilities include overseeing the Payments Council's portfolio of major programmes, which includes the implementation of agreed industry change programmes. Prior to this Tim was seconded to the Payments Council from CGI (formerly Logica) as the Programme Director for the largest cross-industry programme in UK banking in recent years - the Current Account Switch Service - which successfully launched in September 2013.

Tim has extensive experience in managing large complex multi-stakeholder issues and programmes both in the UK and internationally, primarily in the financial services industry. He speaks a number of languages, has a first degree in Aircraft Engineering from St. Louis University (USA) and a Master¡¯s in Business Administration from Warwick University Business School (UK).
Nicholas HOSSACK

Nicholas Hossack is a public policy consultant specialising in financial services regulation and economic analysis. He is a Principal at the advisory firm, Financial Institutions and Markets Advisory(FIMA). He advises banks, companies and non-government organisations on economics and financial matters. Prior to this role, Nicholas was Policy Director at the Australian Bankers¡¯ Association (ABA) where he had responsibility for managing key regulatory issues and representing the banking industry. Areas of specialty include prudential regulation, payments policy and industry structure. He played a key role in the introduction of a bank account switching service in Australia.

For three years, he was an Adviser to Prime Minister of Australia, Hon. John Howard, and prior to that a research economist in the Office of the Leader of the Opposition.

Nick is an experienced public speaker and is a Senior Executive Fellow of the Kennedy School of Government (Harvard University). He has a B.Ec. and BA from the Australian National University.
YUN, Chang-Hyun

Mr. Chang-Hyun Yun is a former president of the Korea Institute of Finance (KIF). He took office in March 2012. Before joining the KIF, he taught business administration at the University of Seoul, where he has resumed teaching. Mr. Yun¡¯s areas of research include the derivatives market and international finance.

In 1993 he joined the KIF, a newly established research institute at that time, as its research fellow. After one and half years at the KIF, he moved on to teach at Myongji University prior to his current position at the University of Seoul. Aside from his academic background, he also has extensive policy advising-related experience. He has served as a member of the National Council of Economic Advisers, Presidential Committee of Social Integration, the Shared Growth Committee and etc. Mr. Yun has authored several books and articles for major academic journals, including ¡°The Future of Financial Industry after the Global Crisis¡± and ¡°The Evaluation of Pricing Kernel of KOSPI 200 Options under Stochastic Volatility¡± (Korea Journal of Futures and Options)

Mr. Yun earned his BA and MA in economics from Seoul National University. He received his PhD in economics at the University of Chicago in 1993.

  • Mr, Jeong-Hyeok Park is currently a general manager at Samsung Life Insurance Corporation as well as a visiting fellow at Korea Accounting Standard Board (KASB). As an American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), He has built his career at accounting team in Samsung Life Insurance Corporation, the largest and best insurance company in Korea. Especially as s a general manager at Samsung Life, he successfully led the task force team that was organized by Korean Financial Supervisory Service and Korea Accounting Standard Board (KASB) to facilitate the adoption of IFRS 4 Phase 1 in Korea.
    In addition, he has served as a leader of Insurance Working Group in Asia-Oceanian Standard Setters (AOSSG) since 2010. And as the leader of Insurance Working Group in AOSSG, he has contributed to AOSSG in the process of collecting AOSSG members¡¯ views on Exposure Draft 2010 and Revised Exposure draft 2013 Insurance Contracts. He has also been actively involved in AOSSG activities through making presentations and leading discussion sessions during several AOSSG annual meeting.
    Through these experiences, he has developed the following key strengths that are important for success in this position: Strong knowledge of IFRSs Ability to identify issues regarding the practical application of IFRSs In-depth knowledge of Accounting practices in insurance industries Strong communication skills and project management skills In addition, he successfully undertook the third round of fieldwork with IASB for IFRS 4 Phase2 in Korea. During the fieldwork, he effectively enhanced the input to IASB regarding practical application of IFRS 4 Phase2.
