Choi, Jong-Ku

Chairman of the Financial Services Commission(FSC)

Mr. Choi JongKu took office as Chairman of the Financial Services Commission(FSC) in July, 2017. Commencing his public service career in 1982, Mr. Choi accumulated decades of extensive experiences by holding various positions including Deputy Minister for International Affairs at the Ministry of Strategy and Finance (MOSF) and First Senior Deputy Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS). Also, Mr. Choi served as President & CEO of the Seoul Guarantee Insurance (SGI) from January 2016 to February 2017. Prior to his appointment as FSC Chairman, he was Chairman & President of the Export-Import Bank of Korea(KEXIM) from March 2017 to July 2017.
During and aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis, as Director General for International Finance Bureau, Mr. Choi contributed to stabilizing financial and FX markets in Korea. While he was Deputy Minister for International Affairs at the MOSF from 2011 through 2012 when the global economy was facing the eurozone fiscal crisis, he committed himself to keeping the turbulence at bay to maintain the Korean market stable. He also played a role in effectively coordinating international cooperation amid the crisis, working closely with the partner countries notably the Group of Twenty (G20) and the ASEAN Plus Three (ASEAN+3), a cooperative platform designed for ensuring financial stability and economic integration in the region.
Mr. Choi obtained a bachelor's degree in International Trade from Korea University in 1980 and a master's degree in Public Administration and Policy from University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1992.

Franky Chung

Chief Financial Officer, Xiao-i Robot Technology

Franky Chung joined Xiao-i in September 2018. As the Chief Financial Officer, he is responsible for financial planning, risk management, fund raising, capital management and investor relations. Franky has a diverse and ample experience in Hong Kong capital market, having spent over 20 years working for leading international investment banks, Big Four accounting firms and the Hong Kong SAR government, during which he was involved in enormous IPOs, fund raising, and M&A projects.
Prior to joining Xiao-i, Franky spent about 13 years working for the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing where he spearheaded the incubation and marketing of IPOs of Chinese enterprises in Hong Kong. Key accomplishments included working on remarkable milestones of launching the Shanghai- Shenzhen - Hong Kong Stock Connect and completing the revamp of the listing rules for new economy companies. In this role, he was also responsible for establishing and maintaining investor relations for HKEx as an eligible trading equity in Mainland China. Leveraging on his extensive business network and financial expertise in Hong Kong and Mainland China, Franky made a significant contribution to the vibrant and sustainable development of the financial market.
Franky graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong with honors in Business Administration. He also possesses with the professional qualifications of CFA and AICPA.
Franky also serves as the Deputy Chairman of The Listed Companies Council of Hong Kong Chinese Enterprises Association and the Joint Convener of AI and High Technology Group, Hong Kong-Shanghai Chamber of Commerce-Shanghai.

Professor, Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS)

David LEE Kuo Chuen is a Professor at the SUSS and Vice President of the Economic Society of Singapore. He is the founder of several entities including BlockAsset Ventures, the external advisor to Stanford University’s Distributed Trust Initiative, a Fulbright Scholar, and an Independent Director of listed and technology companies. He graduated with BSc, MSc, and PhD from the LSE in Econometrics. He was the Director of the Sim Kee Boon Institute for Financial Economics, Group MD of OUE and Auric Pacific. He founded Ferrell Asset Management in 1998 and was a property developer. He has more than 60 cited articles and nine books on Asian economics, digital currency, blockchain, and inclusive fintech. His latest book is entitled “AI & Quantum Computing for Finance & Insurance: Fortunes and Challenges for China and America”.

Andrew Work is the Managing Director, Head of Media, Asia and Europe at NexChange, the innovation ecosystem-as-a-service and co-creator of Hong Kong Blockchain Week and the Fintech O2O, Healthtech O2O, and Block O2O brands and events. He was the lead on-stage host for Consensus Singapore 2018, Hong Kong Blockchain Week, Block O2O, Hong Kong Fintech Week (2015-2017), the first Token 2049, SME Finance Forum (2015-2017), World Business Angel Investor Forum (2017-2019) and many more world-leading blockchain and fintech events.
His Work has extensive executive experience in building successful media, content, community, ecosystem and events brands from ground zero to become globally recognized properties. He has held executive positions as the Editor-in-Chief of Harbour Times and High Tide, CEO of New Work Media, Executive Director of The Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and more. He founded the Hong Kong economic policy think tank, The Lion Rock Institute and remains an active board member. He has worked for The Economist Group, Penton Media and on Parliament Hill with a senior Cabinet Minister in Ottawa. He is the Consulting Editor to Sphere, the in-house publication of the CK Hutchison Group. He holds a Bachelor of Science from McGill University and an MBA from the University of Victoria.

Head of Financial Sector Research, HuaTai Securities

Shujin CHEN joined Huatai Securities (HK) in 2017 as Head of Financial Sector Research. Ms. CHEN is a well-known China bank research analyst, and her team ranked No.2 in bank sector research in 2017 & 2018 Institutional Investor All-China Research Team poll. She was also the No.1 Best Earnings Estimator for Asia Banks sector and HK & Mainland China Financial sector in 2018 and 2019, according to Thomson Reuters StarMine Analyst Awards.
Prior to joining Huatai, Ms. Chen was Head of China/HK Financial Research and Co-Head of Asia Financial Research in DBS Vickers. Before that, she worked for research department in Barclays Capital and Deutsche Bank. Before sell-side research, Ms. CHEN had experience in global bank corporate finance and regulatory reporting, asset management, and direct investment.
Ms. CHEN holds a Bachelor of Economics in Finance from Fudan University and holds a M.S. in finance from State University of New York.

Mr. Dongwon Yoo is currently serving as Head of Global Strategy for Kiwoom Securities. He served as Head of Research/PM for Woori Investment Advisory, Beijing, and Woori Absolute Partners, Singapore. Mr. Yoo has 23 years of investment and equity-linked analyst research experience (as Head of research, strategist, sector analyst and CB analyst), with a specific focus on Asian markets (specifically China and Korea), including 6 years of equity research experience with Morgan Stanley and Citigroup Investment Research.
His experience in investing and researching the Chinese and Korean market includes his previous position as Head of Research of WAP, Chief Investment Officer & Head of Research of JED VGQA (a Korean focused hedge fund) in addition to his previous position as Director, Strategist and Head of Research for Citigroup Investment Research (Korea). Mr. Yoo’s previous roles also include Head of Financials Research for Morgan Stanley (Korea) and Deputy Head of Research for CLSA Korea. He holds a BSE degree from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Takashi Hongo analyzes policies and markets of climate change mitigation and adaptation, including low carbonization of energy, climate finance and emission trading, and has been involved in wide range of environment related initiatives and projects, such as water infrastructure and biodiversity. He provides advices related to long term carbon strategy to Mitsui & Co., other companies and Japanese government.
Before joining the institute, he worked for Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) as Special Advisor to Governor and drafted JBIC Environment Guideline for environment due diligence and J-MRV Guideline for measurement of GHG emission reduction at projects. He has rich experiences of international project finance for policy base lending and industry, energy and infrastructure projects.

Emeritus Professor of Economics, Seoul National University

Professor In-June Kim is emeritus professor of Seoul National University, after serving as a professor more than three decades at department of economics, Seoul National University. Professor Kim has been a leading scholar in the fields of macroeconomics and international finance in Korea and served as Dean, College of Social Sciences, and Director, Institute for Research in Finance and Economics at Seoul National University.
Professor Kim has been presidents of a few scholarly institutions, including the Money and Finance Association of Korea and the Korean Economic Association. Professor Kim has been actively involved in formulation of macroeconomic policies of Korea, serving as vice chairman and a member of National Economy Advisory Council of Korea (chairman is the President of Korea), a member of Monetary Board, Bank of Korea and chairman of Financial Development Deliberation Committee (on the private side), Ministry of Finance and Economy.
Professor Kim served as chairman of the Steering Committee of the Korea Investment Corporation, as chairman of the Board of Directors, KB Kookmin Bank of Korea, and also as chairman of board of directors, Korea Center for International Finance.
Professor Kim has written many books and articles, especially on international finance and Korea’s economic development and economic crisis. Professor Kim received his BA in economics from Dartmouth College and Ph. D in economics from Harvard University.
